One can imagine a day when your child wakes and say that he cannot see. Isn’t it scary? This is what happened with Master Mayank an 8-year-old child who suddenly complained of loss of his vision in both eyes on waking up in the morning. His parents panicked and immediately rushed him to nearest eye doctor who suspected a major problem and referred him to Advanced Eye Hospital and Institute (AEHI) located at Palm Beach road, Navi Mumbai.
Master Mayank visited Advanced Eye Hospital and Institute (AEHI) with his parents where his complete eye examination was carried and he was referred to Dr. Yogesh Patil Vitreo-retina specialist. Dr. Yogesh Patil checked his eyes and diagnosed the condition as Bilateral Retinal Detachment in his both eyes.
Retinal Detachment is an eye problem which if not treated can lead to permanent blindness. It is an eye disorder in which the retina (light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye) separates from the underlying layer resulting in sudden vision loss. It can cause due to high glass power, trauma, diabetes, and in few cases genetic problems are the common reason for Retinal detachment.
Dr. Yogesh Patil explained his parents about retinal detachment and how it affects the eyes if not treated immediately. Looking at the severity of his eye problem Dr. Yogesh Patil took Mayank for emergency surgery on the same day of the right eye under general anesthesia. And the surgery went smoothly and was successful. The next day, he was called for his follow-up visit in which his eyes were swollen, red which was expected and was explained to his parents. He was able to read the bigger letters. His left eye operation was scheduled and carried after 5 days with similar results.
In his follow-up , his eyes were examined, Mayank vision was almost near normal. The joy of his parents could not be expressed in words on seeing Mayank doing his activities himself like walking, reading and leading a normal life like he used to. Mayank was lucky to have his eyes saved in time or else it could have led to blindness.
Mayank’s parents were very happy and thankful to Dr. Yogesh Patil for saving their child’s vision.
They very delighted and pleased with Dr. Yogesh Patil for the efforts he has taken for their child. They were thankful to the AEHI team for their politeness and providing a homely and professional environment.
